Zoë Blair-Schlagenhauf

IKEA Residency

Co-founded by Mary Boo Anderson and Zoë Blair-Schlagenhauf in 2023, IKEA residency is an unsanctioned artist residency staged within the Burbank IKEA. The mission of the residency is to reclaim creative space in an otherwise commercial environment. It serves as a critique of consumerism and the disappearance of free public spaces, while also exploring the prolific cultural impact of our unaffiliated namesake. More than 50 artists, writers, designers, and multidisciplinary makers have participated in this experiment, using IKEA as a platform for critical dialogue and collaboration. At Home, the residency’s inaugural exhibition, brought together work from 40+ residents across 3 cohorts and welcomed over 500 visitors on opening night.

Zoë developed the residency’s entire visual identity, producing print materials including zines, stickers, and t-shirts; designing the website and social media graphics; and managing the Instagram account, growing it to 5,000 followers within a year.

Tierra del Sol Gallery

At Tierra del Sol Gallery, Zoë Blair-Schlagenhauf played a key role in supporting the careers of 140 artists with developmental disabilities, managing daily operations and leading a wide range of gallery functions. She oversaw exhibitions, coordinated logistics for major art fairs including Felix, NADA Miami, and The Armory Show, and implemented streamlined inventory, invoicing, and shipping systems that supported record-breaking sales growth. In addition to managing contracts, vendor relations, and event production, Zoë developed over 75 pieces of graphic collateral, crafted and edited dozens of artist biographies, and led social media and email outreach efforts that significantly expanded the gallery’s audience. Her work helped strengthen Tierra del Sol Gallery’s mission to connect its artists with the broader creative community and global art market.
